Jenna Calandra is an indie singer-songwriter based in Long Island, New York working on her debut studio album. Fangirls World Tour recently had the opportunity to sit down with her and discuss her journey thus far.
Jenna has dealt with her fair share of setbacks as a young artist in the industry, but that has not deterred her from chasing her dreams and bringing them to life.
“[This album] has been five years in the making so I’m actually really excited to finally release it and I think it’s the right time.” She explained to FWT. “It [the album] is more like Don’t Forget by Demi Lovato Era. It’s going to be really, really great.”
Not only did the pandemic play into the setback of Jenna’s music, but so did personal preference. She wanted the music to showcase herself authentically and develop it to be the best it can be.
Jenna expressed great admiration for Madison Beer, who is one of her biggest inspirations. (She was even wearing Madison’s merchandise during our interview). Aside from influencing her music, Jenna also picked up content creation on the side because of Madison. Jenna uploads helpful tips for similar content creators, “Days in the Life”, and covers on her YouTube channel.
She was exposed to music from a very young age with her father having a passion for playing and performing. In her childhood home, she would sneak into the basement-turned-studio to sing. She began voice lessons in elementary school and still professionally takes lessons today.
Admittedly her first performance did not go to plan, “I was so upset, I ran off the stage crying. I was only 8 years old at the time.” Jenna told FWT.
Luckily, Jenna has had many more successful performances including one at The Loft Festival a few months ago.
Jenna Calandra has big dreams for her future including music video shoots, singles, and collaborations that you don’t want to miss. You can follow her at itsjennacalandra on Instagram for the most up-to-date announcements as well as on Spotify here.
