As some of you might know, Taylor Swift is re-recording her albums after her former record label sold her back catalog in a reported $300 million deal. She’s now re-recording her first six albums so her music “can live on” and that she can own her music once again.

So far, Red and Fearless have been re-recorded to become ‘Taylor’s Version’ but everyone including myself is guessing which album will be her re-released after the success of Midnights. Many people believe that the next album will be Speak Now and here’s why.

Taylor is known for her hints at upcoming projects, and Speak Now is no different. On her birthday, Taylor changed the artwork for all the songs she owns on Spotify to show a clip of confetti falling. Fans immediately realized that confetti is referenced in Speak Now’s ‘Long Live.’ Then in a photo of her birthday party, her AMA for Favorite Album Country for Speak Now is shown. These may seem like small references, but Swifties are like detectives, we always figure it out in the end.

When her merchandise was released in November 2021, fans immediately got their detective hat on after it was listed for $20.10, which is the year Speak Now was released! The text from her website also appeared in the exact same shade of purple as the dress she wears on the album cover.

Another time the merch fuelled people’s speculations was when the singer dropped merch in April 2022 that immediately made fans think of Speak Now due to its use of purple and the font for “Taylor Swift,” which was the same font used on the album cover!

Her cryptic Instagram captions don’t help because fans immediately suspected something was up with her caption when she announced Red (Taylor’s Version) was out on an Instagram post. She wrote: “Just a friendly reminder that I would never have thought it was possible to go back and remake my previous work, uncovering lost art and forgotten gems along the way, if you hadn’t emboldened me.”

However, the sentence that got the fandom’s attention was: “Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours.”

“Mine” and “Ours” are both titles on Speak Now, with the former being track one and the latter being the first bonus track on the deluxe edition.

Let’s not forget about the Bejeweled music video which was full of easter eggs relating to Speak Now. First of all, the violin at the start plays ‘Enchanted’ – one of the songs from Speak Now. From the 3 elevator buttons she hits (her third album) to Dern’s dialogue to the stage decor, Swift drops many hints that it will be the next re-recorded album she releases. The clock that she sits on, in the end, is at the number 3 which some have suggested to be an indicator that the 3 represents Taylor’s 3rd album that she released which was Speak Now.

When the Evil Stepmother makes her speech at the start she says “Speak Not, Tired Tacky Wench” which I immediately screamed at because it’s basically a play on words on Speak Now. Another clue I got from the music video is the Edwardian-style dress that Taylor wears at the end of the music video and how it reminded me of the dress she wore on the Speak Now tour.

On a personal level, I want the next Taylor’s Version to be Reputation since it’s my favorite album and I see it as a way to enjoy and appreciate it when it finally does come. But, let us know in the comments on our socials, Instagram @fangirlsworldtour, Twitter @fangirlswt, or TikTok @fangirlswt, what you think is the next Taylor’s Version?
