It’s a brand new year and you know what that means. It’s time to set some goals for the new year. Whether it’s to do something small or something out of your comfort zone, 2023 is going to be your year for success and this is why.

1. Get Organised.
The key to success I say is to have a planner or a calendar with you all the time, whether it’s digital like Notion or Google Calendar or a physical one like Papier. Being organized equals productivity in my eyes. I love making sure everything has its place and that all my to-do lists are complete for the day. I think the biggest issue probably with being organized is to find the motivation to keep it up as that’s half the battle.
3. Setting Realistic Goals for Yourself
If you want to dream big, your first step is to set small tasks to help you achieve that goal. You want to be a concert photographer. Great. But you have no experience or equipment. The 1st realistic goal you would set for yourself is to maybe borrow a friend’s camera or buy yourself one so you can understand what working with a camera feels like. Your 2nd goal would be to get your head around working with editing software. In my opinion, these are the first real steps to take before you go and reach your goals. It’s all about what can be achievable in this space of time.
3. Trying something new

This might be hard for some people as we as a society are used to things being handed to us so easily. Maybe it’s out of boredom that we want to try something new. trust me, we all have been there. Whether it’s a new hobby, learning how to drive, writing or baking. At first, trying something new can be so scary but the more you do it, the more you feel comfortable. Also, it’s good to step out of your comfort zone and do something you never thought you could do like skydiving.
4. Think Positively
Approaching a situation with a ‘glass half full’ mentality will go a long way towards improving your year. I see being positive as being an optimist. If something didn’t go right like you scored badly on a test then you have next time to improve on it or if something bad is happening you can’t control it. What I mean is that you come out of that rough time as a stronger person.
5. Learn from your mistakes

This for me is one of the biggest things I have learned to do over the last couple of years. I always felt like everything was my fault and that I was putting so much pressure on myself to score the best grades in school that when I didn’t get a good score then I would be so upset with myself. As soon as I switched my mindset I started to see things a bit clearer. You should see failure as an opportunity. Take this from someone who failed her theory test three times. Failure is an opportunity to learn and evolve. You failed, so what, you can do it again and maybe on that next attempt you’re going to pass. You failed, so what, I can apply for another internship this semester. You failed, so what, I didn’t get a job interview but I know for next time how I can tailor my CV. In any situation you’re in that hasn’t gone the way you want it just think so what, I can do it again and I am going to do so much better because I have learned from my mistakes.
Let’s make 2023 our year for happiness and success.
